Matteo Capriotti

In my works, I try to recreate colours. I want my green to be even greener, my blu even bluer, my black even blacker.

Artist

Matteo Capriotti is an emerging artist who put on canvas his deepest emotions.

Looking a Capriotti’s work it is just like delving into his deepest emotions.

Matteo invites the viewer to undertake a journey into the deep ocean waters.
His work is actually inspired by the shade of the deep ocean waters where the Batophobia, the fear of the depths, is a defining element of Capriotti’s works.

Matteo’s love for painting comes from his greater fear: the fear of the depth, also known as Batophobia. Through his creative act, Matteo doesn’t want to just exorcise the fear but he wants also to share with the viewer his emotional state.

Drawing inspiration from the deep ocean waters, the artist aims to provoke that sense of depth so intense for him

Matteo Capriotti doesn’t use any brush to spread the colour on his canvas.

The artist, after preparing the canva and spreading the colours, waits for an exact time frame, called The Metaphase.

The Metaphase in Matteo’s artwork is pretty important: he usually picks the colours up from his fingers when the oil colours are not dry nor fresh yet. He uses this specific time frame to paint with his own hands on the canvas.

This is what makes his works unique and authentic.

Born in Teramo, in 1996, Capriotti started drawing at the age of 20. In spite of his young age, his works have been already displayed in several exhibitions such as Esposizione Internazionale 2017, Padiglione Guatemala during the Venice Biennale.
